Working with Seneca County Ohio State Extension personnel, Master Gardener Volunteers provide educational services to their communities. Taking online courses and participating in in-person labs and workshops provide an overview of the Seneca County Master Gardener Volunteer program along with training on core gardening topics, including botany, soils, insects, diseases, houseplants, fruit and vegetable production and much more!

Once the course is completed, participants will be able to:

  • Design a garden
  • Match plant needs to garden locations
  • Propagate plants using a variety of methods and techniques
  • Identify issues and develop effective management strategies
  • Promote pollinators
  • Educate communities about the science of gardening

Participants will have access to the online course materials from January 17-June 30, 2024. The course price includes access to the online course, a physical copy of The Ohio State University Master Gardener Volunteer manual, a volunteer name tag, a t-shirt and lab materials. A background check (fee not included in course price) is required before volunteering activities can begin.
