The 2017 Beef Ambassador applications are due to the Extension Office by Friday March 3, 2017. This is a great opportunity for members who take beef projects to represent Seneca County not only at our fair but at other fairs and events throughout the state.
Interested applicants should:
*Be 16-18 years old as of January 1
*Either the member or a guardian should be an active member of the Seneca County Cattlemen's Association. If you are not currently a member you can join at the meeting in March.

The Ohio State University Extension has four Nutrient Management Plan Writers working to assist farmers in developing free Nutrient Management Plans in the Western Lake Erie Basin of Ohio. Plans provide both fertility recommendations and an environmental site risk for fields that help identify resource concerns impacting nutrient and sediment loss.
NMP writers will be on hand in Seneca County on Thursday January 26, 2017 and Thursday March 9, 2017 from 9:00 am-3:00 pm.

The 2017 award trip scholarship application is now available. Trips vary from ages 13-18 so please make sure to read over the trip description to make sure you are eligible. Completed applications and other materials are due to the Extension Office by 4:30 p.m. on Monday December 12, 2016. If you have any questions please contact the Extension Office.

Anyone who is planning on exhibiting a market steer, market heifer, or dairy steer is required to attend the December 3, 2016 nose printing. Members should attend along with their animal(s). You will have your picture taken with your animal(s), animal(s) will be nose printed, and members will get their project book. Members taking projects to the state fair will also have to provide a DNA hair sample and will be administered an EID eartag.

The Junior Leadership Club is once again offering their Santa's Workshop to kids in 1st-4th grade. This year's workshop will be help on Saturday December 3 from 1:00-4:30 p.m. at the Extension Office. Kids will enjoy an afternoon of fun and will be able to make gifts for their family members. The cost is only $10.00 per child and must be pre-paid and pre-registered. The link below is to the event flyer for additional information.

Applications for 2017 Camp Counselors are being accepted now through December 12, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. Interested members should be at least 14 years old by the start of camp and must complete a minimum of 24 hours of training. First year counselors will be considered CIT's (Counselors In Training) and will be required to help with the Cloverbud Day Camp. First year applicants are also required to provide two non-family references. If you have any questions please contact the Extension Office.

Are you ready for a Grade A Banquet that is out of this world! The 8th annual Grade A Banquet, sponsored by the Fostoria and Tiffin Kiwanis Clubs, will be held on Sunday August 28, 2016 in the Entertainment Building at the fairgrounds. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. There will be entertainment by comedian and juggler, Tim Salisbury, prizes, and fun!
Members who received an "A" on their project(s) will eat for free, adults are $10.00, and children ages 1-7 are $5.00.

The 2016 Cloverbud Camp is Shooting for the Stars! Cloverbud members are invited to attend the Cloverbud Camp on Tuesday August 16, 2016 from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m at the Franciscan Earth Literacy Center. Cloverbuds will enjoy team building activities, astronomy activities, and learn about the solar system. Registration forms and fees are due to the Extension Office by August 1st. Mark your calendars for June 25, 2016 starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Seneca County Fairgrounds and plan to attend the Cattle Round Up. This is event is open to Seneca County 4-H and FFA members at no charge and to non county residents at a charge of $5.00. This fun and interactive seminar helps improve your show cattle skills and offers sessions on showmanship, clipping, fitting, and nutrition. Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and lunch will be provided by Tiffin Farmer's Coop and Kalmbach Feeds. Please see the link below for event information.
