MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

The 2008 Ohio 4-H Volunteer Conference and Bob Evans Farms 4-H Recognition Luncheon will be held Saturday, March 8 at the Columbus Convention Center. This is an excellent program, as it provides a wide variety of volunteer education experiences. All 4-H volunteers (both adults and youth) and parents are encouraged to attend! The registration table opens at 8:15 a.m. with sessions beginning at 9:00 a.m.

As a conference donor, the 4-H Advisory Council receives a number of designated seats at the recognition luncheon. Tenured volunteers being recognized at this luncheon will pay half the registration cost: $15.00. Costs for other advisors, youth and parents is $30.00. The 4-H Advisory Council has designated some funds for volunteer training. Contact Ann at 419-447-9722 ext. 13 to request a scholarship (partial) to assist with registration costs.

The registration form and check are due to the Extension office by Friday, February 8th. See the registration form enclosed. Sessions fill up fast, so do not delay in registering.

4-H TEENS - MARK YOU CALENDAR!

The third annual Ohio Teen Conference will be held Saturday, February 16th at the Columbus Convention Center. All older 4-H youth are encouraged to take part in this exciting event. This is a great time to meet other teens while developing leadership skills. There will be more than 75 breakout sessions from which youth can choose. More news will be forthcoming. Mark the date on your calendar now!

                                                             VOLUNTEER KICK-OFF & UPDATES

Get started on the right foot by attending one of the Volunteer Updates. I hope at least one advisor from each club will be able to attend one of the scheduled updates. We will discuss topics such as new project requirements, livestock rule changes, home economics project information, 4-H Club Chartering, and update you on things that are different (and the same) for the 2008 4-H year.

These sessions provide Advisors with the necessary information to effectively help our 4-Hers through the year. They will also serve as a forum for Advisors to give suggestions, discuss topics of interest and provide us with feedback about the program. If a volunteer from your club is not able to attend, then your club will need to set up an appointment to see Ann, to be brought up to speed for the year. I will not be able to accommodate walk-ins, so please make prior arrangements if you are unable to attend.

Also, according to a new state policy, newly selected volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Orientation & Training.

A Home Economics and Miscellaneous project update session will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at 7:00 PM at the Extension Office. On Saturday, February 2, 2008 at 9:30 AM the Livestock project update session will be held at the Extension Office. Please plan to attend these worthwhile project update meetings.

A  TRACTOR SAFETY AND CERTIFICATION COURSE  for youth from Wyandot and surrounding counties will be offered in Upper Sandusky beginning Saturday, February 2, 2008.
